Location, Date and Time: Methodist Church Hall on 24th of August 2011 at 7pm
Attendees: County Cllr Colin Noble, Harold Spencer, Marilyn Shone, Eric Plested, Sheila Smith, Chris Howard (Library Manager), Parish Cllr Iain Frost, Lisa Elmer (Area Manager, Libraries, Suffolk County Council), Alison Donald (Our Place Rep, Business Development Team, Suffolk County Council).
Group had joint presentation from Cllr Noble, Alison and Lisa to give background to the session. One of the aims of this group is to listen to what people want from a library in Lakenheath and feed this into the service. Group then encouraged to think about the level of involvement / commitment they are willing to make and able sustain. There are some options from the light-touch ‘friends of the library’ sort of group to a full governance model.
Following the Library Consultation earlier this year there is a review of the library services available online: http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/CouncilAndDemocracy/Consultations/haveYourSayOnSuffolkLibrariesFeedback.htm
General correspondence and Expressions of Interest received following the consultation are available in the same location. Group then spent some time working on a SWOT themed exercise and discussing the way forward.
Suffolk County Council holding library stakeholder workshop on 26th September – Cllr Noble will ask for a member of this group to be invited to that session.
Our next meeting was scheduled for the 31st of October, 7pm at the Methodist Church Hall.
