Summer Reading Challenge Medal and Certificate Evening

The “Friends” came out in force last night to support the prize winners of the Summer Reading Challenge 2012 at Lakenheath Library. The ceremony – hosted by library manager Chris Howard and attended by guest medal-giver Cllr. Colin Noble – was held to celebrate those children who signed up to the Story Lab-themed scheme at the start of the summer holidays and had managed to read six books over their six weeks off school.

The evening was also an opportunity for us F.O.L.K. to promote our group and drum up awareness and interest amongst the parents and guardians of the finishers. We mingled with the attendees and talked-up our cause, and hopefully persuaded a few new members to join our ranks. We also handed out our newly-printed information pamphlets (see below) and had an excuse to roll out our much-admired banner again!

In other news, F.O.L.K. will next be meeting at the library at 7pm on 2nd October 2012 (please note this is a Tuesday rather than our usual Monday), where we hope to brainstorm ideas for a proposed Halloween event at the library.
