Calling all budding Creative Writers…

WWC PosterThe Friends of Lakenheath Library are delighted to announce our WINTER WRITING CHALLENGE.

Running from 1st November 2014-6th January 2015, we challenge YOU to write a short story based around the theme of WINTER. Provided your story is limited to no longer than 2 sides of A4, you are free to write about ANYTHING Winter-related – so let your minds wander!

The Winter Writing Challenge is open to ALL AGES, so to make things fair, we have divided the judging into three age categories:

  • Under 8’s
  • 8-14
  •  15+ (which includes adults)

The winner of EACH category will receive a copy of a bound book containing all the entries – with theirs highlighted as the winner! A fourth copy of this book will be entered into official library stock so EVERYONE can loan out and read your work! As well as this unique, limited edition prize, the winners will also receive a £20 book voucher to spend on any books they wish.

The Friends of Lakenheath Library will be reading ALL the entries and whittling them down to a shortlist of 3 per age category. These will then be sent to library patron and crime author Alison Bruce, who will chose the overall winner from each category. We are thrilled that Alison has agreed to support the Winter Writing Challenge, and she has also agreed to write a preface for the book.

So if you are bursting to tell stories, why not get involved in the Winter Writing Challenge for the chance to see your Winter-themed work in print? Entry fee is just a £1 donation to the F.O.LK. fund and the books will be unveiled and prizes handed out at a special presentation event on February 7th – final details TBC.

Pop in to Lakenheath Library or call during opening hours on 01842 860723 for further information – and happy writing!
