WWC Update

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed a short story to our Winter Writing Challenge; we have been really impressed with the variety and quality of the creative pieces.

It has now been almost two weeks since the (extended) deadline and the Friends are hard at work reading through all the entries to select a shortlist from each age category. These finalists will then be sent to our guest judge and patron of Lakenheath Library, Alison Bruce, to choose the overall three winners.

The victors will be announced at our Award Ceremony (date TBA), so watch out for posters and keep an eye on this blog for when this exciting event will be taking place – we wouldn’t want any entrants to miss out on hearing the news first!

All entries will be published in a special compendium, with a cover specially designed by our library manager, and each winner will receive a copy of the book as well as £20 of book vouchers! An additional copy will be entered into the Suffolk Library system for anyone to borrow, anywhere in the county!

  1. Is there any one in the village that is interested at all in Genealogy , i do not live near by, but would love to be able to email about the family’s and there history’s that made Lakenheath what it once was in the very early years before we have nothing left to tell our grand children and great grand children about. I know the library has a little info and i have seen that, and there is the record off, but be nice to put faces to our family’s that use to live there. The old tomb stones are falling apart, trying to match those to :Find a grave” site. Pity about the old peoples home, sure they had lots of old pictures. There seems lots of other villages that are doing this type of thing but nothing like that for Lakenheath.?
