Big Friendly Read

As the summer holidays continue apace, there is still time for any bored or restless children to get involved in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, the BIG FRIENDLY READ! Themed around the ever-popular Roald Dahl (who would this year have been celebrating his centenary), the BFR inspires children to keep reading, offering them stickers, cards, creative activities and incentives to reach the goal of SIX books through their six week holiday. If they are successful in their challenge, they receive an invitation to the Medal & Certificate ceremony, to be held in the library in September (date TBC).

Take a peek at Lakenheath Library’s scrumdidilyumptious window display (designed by F.O.LK.’s Mary and Jean), complete with Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, and pop along to the library to get signed up and start YOUR personal Summer Reading Challenge TODAY!

Oomp A Loompa Success!

Thank you to everyone who visited the F.O.LK. stall at last Saturday’s Lakenheath Carnival (6th August). As well as promoting this year’s Roald Dahl-themed Summer Reading Challenge, through a tombola, donated book sale and “Oomp A Loompa at the Chocolate Factory” game our stall raised an impressive £185 for our F.O.LK. fund!

Don’t forget: F.O.LK. is a member of Suffolk Libraries IPS, which holds charity status, and all raised funds go towards further events, projects and activities which keep YOUR local library running.
